What is a concussion?

A concussion is a type of mild traumatic brain injury that can occur when:

  • you hit your head on an object,
  • an object strikes your head,
  • or if your head is shaken violently.

Symptoms of a Concussion

Concussion Diagnosis

  • CT scan – a CT (computer tomography) scan uses x-ray images to create pictures of the head, including the skull, brain, eye sockets, and sinuses.
  • MRI scan – a MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan uses magnetic and radio waves to create detailed pictures of the brain.
